Hi, thanks for your great question about using TinyPilot on a Mac with only USB-C ports. You can connect your TinyPilot device to your Mac using the following methods:

      • USB-C to USB-C data cable - This option is the simplest, but your chosen cable must support data to be compatible with TinyPilot. Some USB-C cables only deliver power, particularly those provided to charge mobile devices.

      • USB-C or Thunderbolt hub with USB-A ports - A hub or dock can help reduce the number of cables you need to connect or disconnect when moving your laptop between locations. The hub or dock might also provide a HDMI port to use with your TinyPilot device.

          Thanks for the quick reply.
One more question. What “information” about the TP does the MacBook Pro have when only a data cable is connected?
Can you share some of the actual data / logs / actual info that MacBook learns by connecting only with data cable ?

          1. Thanks for getting back to me! Our article on how TinyPilot identifies itself explains how a TinyPilot device will appear to a target computer. It should contain all the necessary details, but please let me know if you have any questions.
