Lost Connection with Tailscale (power outage)
- @cghague
I recently experienced a power outage that lasted almost an entire week due to a hurricane. After power was restored, the TinyPilot booted up, but I lost connection to it because the IP address was changed by my router DHCP. I've since corrected that issue by assigning a static IP to the TinyPilot . However, I have lost remote connection to it with my Tailscale setup. What do I need to do in Tailscale to get remote access working again? Do I just delete the device in Tailscale admin interface and re-add the device with the instructions that I followed for initial setup here? (https://tinypilotkvm.com/blog/tailscale/). Also, did Tailscale lose connection because a new IP address was assigned by my router DHCP and will the static IP now prevent Tailscale from losing connection in the future?

Hi, @leo928, thanks for your message. I'm sorry you're having problems with Tailscale on your TinyPilot device. I hope everything else is okay following the severe weather!
It's possible that Tailscale no longer recognizes your TinyPilot device as the same system following the IP address changes, or the Tailscale login session might have expired during the extended downtime. Tailscale support might be able to help you find out more.
In the short term, your suggestion of removing your TinyPilot device from the admin console and reinstalling Tailscale following our guide will likely be the quickest way to get back online.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.
