Hostname change with https

Hi, I recently changed the hostname. After reboot, the web page will no longer come up presumably due to a certificate issue. I have http disabled. How can I enable http via the cli? I really don’t need https anymore because I now use an ssh tunnel to connect.

Hi @vince, sorry that you're running into this issue.

Can you tell me the error you're getting when you try and access your TinyPilot's web interface?

And are you using https://tinypilot.local instead of your new hostname e.g. https://newhostname.local in your browser's address bar?

I ssh to it… which then opens a tunnel. I then use 127.0.01:443 in the browser. Been working great since the hostname change, but now I only can ssh to it. It would take a day of travel to be next to it for any kind of local troubleshooting. I have also tried to regen a new self signed cert using the tools in the opts folder. I also used a tool to change the name back which as I understand also updates the etc/hosts… although I don’t want that hostname to show on the network or pc at all.

Ok so I was able to VNC to a server next to it and web to it using tinypilot.local from a browser with less security checks. At first, only using the name worked. I disabled require https. After a few more reboots and regen of the cert, things are starting to work again using IP only thru the tunnel with full HSTS working. I’m really not sure what the root cause was, but I don’t think I’ll be changing the hostname remotely again through a tunnel. An mtu issue is my only guess.

                Thanks for the update, @vince!

This is a fairly uncommon use case, so I haven't seen any similar issues from other users. I agree that it's not clear what the root cause could be. I've made a personal note about this, so if I see any similar problems in the future I'll have your post as a reference.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or queries!
