Hi @a7673, thanks for your question.

If you've changed your TinyPilot's EDID to the alternative EDID in our FAQ, your TinyPilot should start using the Toshiba-H2C identifier instead of TinyPilot.

Windows seems to save older names, so you may need to manually update the identifier. We have some details on the steps you need to take in our FAQ that details how TinyPilot appears to target machines.

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

          Hi @david

The below is what @cghague recommended and I tried it. Still doesnt work. Do you recommend to Update the EDID by disconnecting it and then reconnecting after the updating?

or does factory reset will help?

If Windows has cached the name, it might help if you disconnect TinyPilot, remove its entries in Device Manager, and then reconnect TinyPilot.

or does factory reset will help?

A factory reset will reset your TinyPilot completely, including its EDID, so it will appear as TinyPilot in the display settings.

Can I confirm that you ran the commands in the snippet from this section of our EDID FAQ? It's worth double-checking that the alternate EDID is the one TinyPilot is actively using.

The full process here would be something like this:

            1. Disconnect TinyPilot from the Windows machine
            2. Remove the TinyPilot entries from Device Manager in Windows
            3. Confirm your TinyPilot is using the alternative EDID
            4. Reconnect your TinyPilot to your Windows target machine

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

              Thanks for the reply.

              For this point,

you meant by uninstalling the display device in the device manager?

Unfortunately the I dont have admin privileges on the Target machine to do this. What other options do you advise?

you meant by uninstalling the display device in the device manager?

Yes - I believe in the "Monitors" section, you can right-click the monitor and click "Uninstall device".

Unfortunately the I dont have admin privileges on the Target machine to do this. What other options do you advise?

Unfortunately, if you don't have admin privileges to uninstall the device (to removed the cached name), I'm not sure if there's much you can do to address this. I believe Windows caches these names indefinitely because it's unusual for a monitor to change its display name.

Would it be possible to ask whoever has admin access to uninstall the device on your behalf?

Please let me know if you have any questions.
